Laser Scanning - Concrete Slab Floor Survey
A very detailed laser scan has been carried for a prestigious new office development in Glasgow City Centre. The building is under construction and our client identified problems with construction of the concrete slab floors. The slab thickness and rebar cover was suspected to be inconsistent. Our client required an accurate, independent check on the thickness and levels of the slab.
We laser scanned 6 floors of the building picking up all steelwork, slab floors and ceilings and related the information back to original survey control. We added rebar cover readings from another consultant to our scan data to produce various contour plans, isopachytes and sections.
The thoroughness and speed of the laser scan impressed our client and allowed a fast resolution to the issues. We also prepared remediation drawings outlining exactly which areas of the slab were outwith design tolerances.
