Laser Scanning surveys for Arqiva Tower Masts
Large site portfolio owners such as Arqiva lease space on their structures along with ground level accommodation to customers, and therefore accurate details of installations is of great benefit to them – as it stands today these companies have not found it easy to maintain accurate data on their assets and customers which occupy their sites.
Star Net has developed a method to efficiently provide accurate data far more easily than with traditional methods by merging procedures adopted in the traditional geospatial sector with the Laser Scanning option. This procedure has a number of fringe benefits; one being a significant reduction in time operatives spends “working at height”. The complexity of these works is also vastly reduced. This service adds further value by allowing the site owner access to an accurate 3D database of information on the asset which can be interrogated for information – e.g. structural assessment, equipment identification, retrofit and space analysis for kits upgrades - in lieu of the need to have trained operatives revisit the site.
This new technology rapidly collects high density and accurate 3 dimensional data, in order to create a fully 3 dimensional “image” of a structure or asset. This data can be then delivered as a highly accurate and detailed 2D CAD drawing or a 3D visualisation (e.g. 3D model, Truview, Flythrough animation) which allows the client to view the surveyed asset from visual perspectives that he/she would not otherwise be able to see (such as aerial, oblique and sectional views). The unobtrusive nature of laser scanning allows the surveyor to operate from the ground, quicker and from a safe distance.
