Glendoe Hydro Power Scheme
Scottish and Southern Energy's Glendoe Hydro Power Station is the largest hydro scheme built in the UK for 50 years (100MW capacity). It has recently suffered a collapse in the main headrace tunnel between the reservoir and power station which will prevent the Power Station from generating electricity until at least April 2011.
Star Net Geomatics has been assisting SSE in locating the exact position of the collapse and surveying the ground surface above. The survey work includes traversing 2km down the 5m diameter tunnel to locate key features in the tunnel. We are also installing primary control stations to be used in the remedial works.
