Point Cloud support tool available on AutoCAD 2011
Autodesk had their annual worldwide release of the 2011 versions of their software this week. Included in this was AutoCAD 2011. It is worth noting that the top 2 new features are new surface modeling tools and point cloud support, both of which have important implications for handling laser scanned data.
This is the first time that there is support for point clouds in the AutoCAD platform, and it is free. This is certainly going to open up the opportunity for more widespread use of laser scanned data. Courtesy of lidarnews.com
